is a style of thru-hiking that requires one to pass by each and every white blaze without taking shortcuts or loop trails that lead back to the main Trail. A thru-hiker or section hiker who makes it a point to hike every mile of the white-blazed ( official) Trail. An “ Extreme Purist” hikes past each and every white blaze and will never substitute a Blue-Blaze trail for a White-Blaze.
A hiker who decides to pass every single white blaze on the A.T. Many hikers choose to take alternate routes, marked with blue blazes, because they may offer an easier terrain or better views.
A coffee aficionado who demands quality and shuns the use of flavored syrups and the practice of diluting espresso with copious quantities of milk; will only drink an espresso, a macchiato, or a cappuccino. Usually the least happy customer in today's marketing-driven specialty retail store.
A purist is one who desires that a particular item remain true to its essence and free from adulterating or diluting influences. The term may be used in almost any field, and can be applied either to the self or to others. Use of the term may be either pejorative or complimentary, depending on context.
