A form of discipline whereby increasingly harsher penalties are awarded each time an employee is disciplined for the same or a different performance infraction or policy or work-rule violation. Generally, the sequence is an oral warning to written warnings to suspension and finally termination.
A disciplinary concept based on the idea that employees have been informed of the performance and behavior expected of them. As offenses occur appropriate discipline is administered in a progressive manner, in accordance with the University Guidelines of Discipline, Chapter 6C-4.070, Florida Administrative Code.
A process that may involve, but is not limited to, oral or written warnings, probation for poor work performance/habits, disciplinary suspension, and termination. The University reserves the right to terminate the employment relationship without engaging in progressive discipline. Position Elimination
An employer’s policy to impose discipline based on a predetermined formula which progresses from lesser discipline, such as a warning or counseling, to more severe discipline, such as suspension or termination. The discipline is accompanied by written documentation. The idea behind progressive discipline is to provide an opportunity for the employee to correct performance issues over time, while giving the employer an increasing leverage. Most if not all progressive disciplinary policies provide for immediate termination for certain "major infractions."
The process of addressing performance difficulties by first trying to help, then setting up increasingly strong consequences for failure to reach the desired levels of performance
Progressive Discipline is a system of discipline where the penalties increase upon repeat occurrences.
