A fixed lens, 80mm, 105mm or 200mm are examples of of prime lenses. Prime lenses are often considered faster than zoom lenses because there are fewer elements inside thus a wider aperture is possible. Prime lenses often produce a higher quality image than a zoom as well, however you must change your lens every time you want a different focal length. Plus you have to carry around all those different lenses.

Simply, the opposite of a "zoom lens." It's a fixed focal length lens which can be normal, wide, or telephoto.
A lens that has only one focal length (the maximum and minimum distance from the camera the lens will focus). Prime lenses will not zoom in and out but the image appears sharper.

In film and photography, a prime lens is a photographic lens whose focal length is fixed, as opposed to a zoom lens, which has a variable focal length. Prime lenses are not as versatile as their zoom counterparts, but are often of superior optical quality and lower cost. This is because the designs are simpler (fewer moving parts), and can be optimized for one particular focal length, whereas zoom lenses must function at a variety of focal lengths.
