Definitions for "Primary immune response"
The immune response that occurs during the first encounter of a mammal with a given antigen.
The response of the immune system to the first challenge by an antigen.
The way a body reacts the first time it is exposed to a particular antigen. Usually it is less extensive than the secondary immune response. It is slower, takes longer for the body to react, doesn't last long, and produces fewer antibodies.
