In Greek mythology, Polynices (or Polyneices) [Greek: "Πολυνικης" "many victories") was the son of Oedipus and Jocasta. His wife was Argea. When his father Oedipus discovered that he had killed his father and married his mother, he was expelled from Thebes, leaving his sons Eteocles and Polynices to rule.
