See Photo Multiplier Tube.
Acronym for Photomultiplier Tube. The optical transducer attached to a each scintillator in either the TOFp Tray or the pVPD. These devices convert a fraction of the incident scintillation light into a current pulse that is input to the on-detector FEE. In the TOFp Systems, there are 41 Hamamatsu R5946 Proximity Mesh Dynode PMTs in the TOFp Tray, and 3 Hamamatsu R2083 PMTs in each of the two pVPDs (6 total).
See photomultiplier tube.
Photomultiplier tube. The light sensing device generally used in drum scanners.
Photo-Mechanical Transfer; another term for Stat.
Photomultiplier Tubes are a type of sensing technology used in drum scanners.
Pulse Monitor Trip. This is a feature built into a SCR control. It checks the main SCR by monitoring the pulses to the motor when the motor is in the SCR range. If no pulse is present when in the SCR range, the PMT trips interrupting power to the motor.
Standing for a photo mechanical transfer, a PMT is essentially a black and/or white photogragh of a logo or message from which screens etc. are produced for the actual imprinting process. Extra charges are applicable a PMT is not supplied with the order.
abbreviation for PhotoMultiplier Tube, which is an amplifier used to convert light to electrical signals
(Photo Mechanical Transfer) Kodak trade name for process used to make positive paper prints of line copy and halftones.
Light detectors used in drum scanners. PMTs usually accept four beams of light – one each fro red, green and blue, plus one for image sharpness. Usually considered to be more sensitive and accurate then CCD by having greater dynamic range.
Photo mechanical transfer, a print-standard copy similar to a bromide
