A kind of classical antipsychotic medication, such as Thorazine, that seems to be effective in alleviating the major positive signs and symptoms of schizophrenia.
A group of antipsychotic drugs that relieve the symptoms of schizophrenia by blocking the access of the neurotransmitter dopamine to its receptors. Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) and fluphenazine (Prolixin) are examples. See also antipsychotic drug, dopamine, neurotransmitter.
