A leased line (from US West in Univ. of Wyo's case) allowing telephones at locations beyond the University's boundaries to be treated as if they were in the same boundaries as the private branch exchange or our switch.
Off-Premise Extensions A station line at a location other than the premise where the PBX (or local exchange service) is located.
Off Premises Extension. This is a telephone located someplace other than the building where the phone system is located. An example would be if you wanted your main office phone number to ring at the office and at home without having your home phone be part of the office phone system. GO TO TOP OF PAGE
Off Premise Extension. A dedicated phone line between two physical points purchased from your local phone company. This allows a branch office to access all of the features of your main location's PBX.
(Off-Premise Extension): A service that functions identically to a residential extension, but with the extension at a different location. Once the primary method of connecting clients to telephone answering services, call forwarding is generally the connection method of choice, due to increased flexibility and lower cost.
Off-premises extension, an extension telephone, PBX station, or key system station located on property that is not contiguous with that on which the main telephone, PBX, or key system is located.

OPX is an acronym for Off Premise Extension. This is an extension or phone that terminates in a location other than that of a PBX. OPX is generally used to provide an employee with access to his/her company's phone system while out of the office.
