A specific type of local anesthetic. Often used as a catch-all term for any local anesthetic. Local anesthesia is most commonly used for in-office dental procedures. It provides anesthesia directly to the area in which the dental procedure occurs. This type of anesthesia generally wears off within a short period of time.
