Definitions for "Multivac"
Multivac is the name of a fictional computer in many stories by Isaac Asimov from 1955 to 1975. According to his autobiography In Memory Yet Green, Asimov coined the name in imitation of UNIVAC, the early mainframe computer. While he initially intended the name to stand for "Multiple vacuum tubes", his later story "The Last Question" expands the -ac suffix as "automatic computer".
Project Multivac is designed to take advantage of forseeable future computer power to develop artificial intelligence which will perhaps exeed the human mind and will be able to solve some problems of humanity .
