A program used in System 6 which allowed multiple applications to be running at the same time. Incorporated into System 7.
system software: An advanced version of the Finder under System 6 that supports having more than one application open simultaneously. You can then bounce back and forth between applications and the desktop. MultiFinder really only works on computers with more than 1 megabyte of RAM. You can also switch back to the regular Finder if you need to. With System 7 the Mac is always in a multi-application mode.
