Definitions for "Midstory"
Trees that occupy an intermediate position in the forest between the dominant trees of the canopy and the lower shrubs and trees of the understory. Midstory trees are often species adapted to low light conditions, and may also be suppressed and poorly formed.
That portion of the trees, in a forest of more than one vertical layer or canopy, forming the middle layer. A loose term.
