A large county north-west of Dublin, Meath was originally a province in its own right. The old capital of Ireland, Teamhair (Tara) is located in Meath, though there's not much left of it these days. These days, Meath is mostly known (and cursed) for its frighteningly psychopathic Gaelic football team.
Meath is a constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency has an electorate of 108,717 and at present is served by 5 Teachtaí Dála (TDs). The method of election is the Single Transferable Vote.
