Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar (formerly Burma) with a population of 927,000 (2005 census), agglomeration 2.5 million. It is the last royal capital of Myanmar and capital of the current Mandalay Division. The city is bounded by the Ayeyarwady River to the west and is located at , 716 km north of Yangon.

Mandalay was a trip hop duet from the United Kingdom, comprised of Saul Freeman (formerly in the duo Thieves with David Mc Almont) and Nicola Hitchcock.

Mandalay is a famous poem by Rudyard Kipling which was first published in the collection, Barrack Room Ballads published in 1892.

The simple station Mandalay is part of the Trans Milenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, which opened in the year 2000.
