Light water reactor. A nuclear reactor that uses water as the primary coolant and moderator, with slightly enriched uranium as fuel.
Light water reactor. Two principal designs which are the boiling water reactor (BWR) and pressurised water reactor (PWR) types. At the end of 1996, 67% of all commercial nuclear power reactors installed in the USA and throughout the world where American technology has played a major role, are of the light water type. They account for over 77% of all nuclear electricity capacity.
