Linear performance pricing. is a measurement tool developed by McKinsey that establishes a relationship between the value provided by a given part (performance) and its price. The price/performance ratio is quantified (in its simplest form) using the component most relevant for customer value as the y-axis parameter. The price-performance ratio is then plotted against the component's history to derive targets for future purchases and product design. LPP thus allows companies to compare different designs where classical comparisons fail because of dissimilarities from order to order.
