The process in a cow where physical stimulation causes a release of oxytocin and the contraction of smooth muscles surrounding milk alveoli resulting in fluid pressure within the udder and milk flow.
A reflex caused by the release of oxytocin from the pituitary gland in the brain resulting in contractions of tiny muscles that force the milk into the ducts leading into the nipple. This is the way milk is made available to the baby during breast feeding.
