orogenic events involving in mountain building in the western United States ranging in time between the Late Cretaceous and the early Cenozoic.
A mountain building event that took place in the Late Mesozoic and Early Cenozoic Eras. It resulted in the uplift of large blocks of crust such as the Uinta Mountains (Image) and Circle Cliffs in Utah, the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming, and the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
A time of regional deformation, commonly recorded across the eastern Rocky Mountains of the United States. Orogenic phases extended from Late Cretaceous until the end of Paleocene or Eocene time. To simplify, this was a period of mountain building and emplacement of igneous intrusives and mineral ore deposits.
