The leaf is generally broader toward one end and tapers to the other end. The length is generally 3 times the width at the broad part of the leaf.

An elongate leaf that is rounded at one end and pointed at the opposite end; likened to the head of a spear; spear-shaped; also lanceolate; lance-shaped leaves are attached by their rounded ends; ob-lance-shaped leaves are attached by their pointed ends; also oblanceolate.

Shaped like a lance-head, considerably longer than wide, tapering towards the tip from below the middle; attached at the broad end (see pictorial glossary).
