Wood dried with artificial heat in a kiln.
Controlled drying in an oven to a specific moisture content.
Wood seasoned in a kiln by means of artificial heat, humidity and circulation; "kiln dried" wood may refer to wood with various moisture content percentages.
Dried artificially in a kiln.
This refers to the removal of water in the freshly cut wood via the use of artificial heat. Wood dried in this manner is normally stacked in an 'oven' separated from each other by sticks of dry wood and allowed to season. Wood up to three or four inches thick can be seasoned quickly this way, but the resulting wood is not pleasant to turn and the chemicals used in the process to prevent the growth of mould are not good for a turner's health in my opinion.
Wood that has been artificially dried to a moisture content required for a specific end-use application.
A method of drying the lumber to remove moisture which reduces shrinkage, twisting, splitting or checking of finished
(hot-air dried) Wood dryness below the moisture content attainable by air drying. Usually 6-8% mc. Because wood is hygroscopic, kiln dried wood will pick up moisture whenever it is in a moisture bearing environment.
Lumber that has been seasoned in a kiln to a predetermined moisture content.
Wood that's dried by a means of controlled heat and humidity in kilns or ovens to specific ranges of moisture content.
Lumber that has been heated in a kiln to dry and control the amounts of moisture.
Wood which has been dried in a kiln, often to a specified moisture content.
is the artificial process of drying lumber, which is considered to be a more superior process than air dried lumber.
Lumber that has been dried in a Kiln. (See Kiln)
Kiln drying reduces the moisture content of the lumber, a process which inhibits checking, splitting and strengthens the finished product.
A method of drying the timber to remove moisture which reduces shrinkage, twisting, or splitting.
Refers to lumber dried artificially in warm chambers. The heat is regulated to prevent too-sudden loss of moisture, thus preventing checking, warping, and other defeats.
