A small box housing the electronics enabling the user to downlink and decode satellite signals. (See also: Clear Feed, Encoded, Encrypted, Scrambling)
This is simply a fancy term for a standard Satellite TV Receiver. When the information is beamed from the satellite, it is collected by your satellite dish and sent to the receiver. The information is then decoded and decompressed, allowing you to view your programming.
A satellite receiver with a built-in decoder for unscrambling subscription channels. It is usually called the receiver.
This is an integrated receiver-decoder. It consists of a satellite receiver and a descrambler.
The IRD is the official name for the satellite receiver, which has a built-in decoder for unscrambling subscription channels.
Integrated Receiver Decoder - The Dish or DIRECTV Set-Top-Box. This device receives and decodes the digital signal, which allows it to be displayed on a television set.
Integrated Receiver Decoder. The set top box component of the DIRECTV System. Also referred to as the digital receiver, the DIRECTV System*, the box and the set top box.*DIRECTV System: DIRECTV trademark. This hardware processes the incoming signals and manages the viewing menu.
An integrated receiver and decoder that receives transmissions of data, video, and voice.
Integrated Receiver-Decoder. A indoor device accepting signals from at least one LNB, which recovers the original signal from the signal delivered by the LNB. It includes a built-in decoder for reception of services that are protected by a Conditional Access system, subject to authorisation from the service provider. A plug-in "smart card" is often used for authorisation purposes. Used to refer to a range of frequencies that are available for use by satellite communication systems at around 30 GHz for the uplink and 20 GHz for the downlink
See Integrated Receiver/Decoder.
Integrated Receiver Decoder. Receives the radio frequency signal from the LNB, demodulates the signal, and separates the video and data information streams.
(Integrated Receiver Decoder) - A satellite receiver with a built-in decoder for unscrambling subscription channels.
An integrated receiver and decoder for reception of a transmission of voice, video and data.
Integrated Receiver/Decoder. Serves as receiver and decoder for compressed digital TV signals, as well as authorization device.
A satellite receiver with a built-in decoder for unscrambling subscription channels. Usually simply referred to as a receiver.
Integrated Receiver Decoder. A combined radio frequency receiver and (usually) MPEG decoder that is used to adapt a digital satellite transmission for use on a TV-set or other device.
Integrated Receiver Decoder, a piece of equipment used to tune a digital TV signal. The input from a satellite dish is typically L-band with an output that ranges from DVB-ASI transport to analog or digital video.
Integrated Receiver-Decoder. All PWPL satellite equipment is IRDs.
Integrated Receiver Decoder. This is your the same thing as your DSS receiver.
