Definitions for "INTERIM COMMITTEE"
A group of legislators, appointed by the presiding officer of the house or senate when the legislature is not in session, to study a particular issue or group of issues for the purpose of making recommendations to the next legislature.
A legislative committee authorized by the Legislative Assembly to study a particular subject or subjects between sessions. Interim committees are appointed by leadership after the end of session.
A statutory committee that may be assigned to study a specific matter during the time the Legislature is not in session and to make recommendations to the next regular session of the Legislature. The committee also monitors assigned Executive Branch agencies.
