Definitions for "indeterminacy"
Indeterminacy, in philosophy, can refer both to common scientific and mathematical concepts of uncertainty and their implications and to another kind of indeterminacy deriving from the nature of definition or meaning. It is related to deconstructionism and to Nietzsche's criticism of the Kantian noumenon.
Indeterminacy, also known as undecidability, is a term often associated with deconstruction. Indeterminacies point out flaws in binary oppositions, exposing the concept to further deconstruction.
It is impossible to estimate population factor structures exactly because an infinite number of factor structures can produce the same correlation matrix. There are more unknowns than equations in the common factor model. Therefore, we cannot uniquely determine factor structures. See fundamental theorem of factor analysis .
