Definitions for "INCHING"
Inching reuires safety outputs to be closed for a maximum period of time allowing the machine to move only a short distance each time the inching control is activated. The circuit must be designed so that the specified time will not increase in the case of component failure.
A machine control process used in adjusting and setting of dies and other tools in which the motion of the working members is precisely controlled in short increments usually by rapidly engaging and disengaging the clutch usually though electric or pneumatic push buttons.
Another term for jogging, which is the movement of a crane hook, bridge or trolley when they are moved in short, jerky increments, such as stop and start.
