Calhoun Honors College, membership by invitation only. Only students who have accepted membership in the Calhoun Honors College are allowed to enroll in courses with an Honors (H) designation. Location: 105 Tillman Hall.

There are three kinds of honors you may earn at graduation. (Also see Distinction, and University Honors Program). Honors ("Cum Laude") if your overall gpa and SDSU GPA are 3.50 - 3.64 High Honors ("Magna Cum Laude") if your overall GPA and SDSU GPA are 3.65 - 3.79 Highest Honors ("Summa Cum Laude") if your overall GPA and SDSU GPA are 3.8 and above.
The bachelor's and associate's degree may be conferred with honors, by a vote of the Faculty Senate, in recognition of general high standing and scholarship. Three levels are distinguished and indicated by inscription on the diploma in words cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. Honors are determined in the following manner: Within the graduating class of each college/school, students in the top one percent will receive summa cum laude. The following three percent will receive magna cum laude. The next six percent will receive cum laude. The total number of honors awarded will not exceed ten percent of the graduating class of each college/school.

The titles of Past Commander-in-Chief, Past Department Commander and Past Camp Commander (or Past National President, Past Department President and Past President) grantedto an individual upon completion of a period of service to the Order. As each junior level is required to gain the next senior level, only the most senior honor is appended to a person's name. On formal occasions, honored persons may wear the Past Commander's badge suspended from a neck-ribbon of the appropriate color (predominantly blue for Camp, red for Department and Gold for Commander-in-Chief). { Return to Top of List
