Hecuba (also Hekuba or Hekabe Greek: Εκάβη) was a queen in Greek mythology, the wife of King Priam of Troy. She was of Phrygian birth; her father was Dymas, and her mother (Eunoë) was said to be a daughter of the god of the River Sangarius, the principal river of ancient Phrygia.
Hecuba is a tragedy by Euripides written c. 424 BC. The play is meant to take place after the Trojan War, but before the Greeks have departed Troy. It depicts Hecuba's grief over the loss of a daughter, and the revenge she takes over the loss of a son.
