The number of contractions of the heart muscle in a given time, commonly one minute. H08411. Definition from Hurnik et al., 1995.
The number of times the heart beats in one minute.
The number of times the heart beats in a minute.
the rate at which the heart beats; usually measured to obtain a quick evaluation of a person's health
The pulse rate, figured in number of contractions of the heart over a period of time, usually a minute. To figure heart rate, the pulse is usually felt at the carotid artery, next to the Adam's apple in the neck, or on the inside of the wrist, just below the thumb.
A measurement of the work done by the heart, commonly expressed as the number of beats per minute (bpm).
The number of contractions of the heart per minute. A healthy person's maximum heart rate (during maximal exercise) is 220 minus their age.
is the number of beats of the heart per minute. Click here to determine heart rate.
In a fit horse, 32 to 40 beats to the minute before exertion. Some horses' rates are slower, some faster. With hard work, rate approximately doubles but should decelerate rapidly when work ceases. If it doesn't, the horse is not fit, or alternatively may have some other irritant. If the horse is known to be fit, look for another cause, such as almost imperceptible lameness.
the rate at which the heart beats. Normal heart rates range between 60 and 100 beats per minute.
HR is the number of heart beats in one minute.
Number of times a heart beats in a certain period of time.
Number of beats (contractions) of heart per minute
the rate at which the heart pumps blood, measured in the number of heartbeats per minute
Generally measured as beats per minute (BPM). Normal resting heart rate range is 24 to 44 beats per minute. A low resting heart rate gives an advantage to a horse in distance riding. The most efficient range is while the horse stays in aerobic metabolism (generally under 150 bpm). Horses are expected to recover to heart rates near the resting level (usually 68) at the vet checks. If they do not recover within a specified time, this is a sign of fatigue, pain, or other metabolic problems.
Number of times the heart beats per minute.
The number of times the heart pulses in a given period of time.
The heart's rate of contraction (systole) and relaxation (diastole). (A normal hart's rate range is from 36 to 44 beats per minute).
Contraction of the heart usually measured as beats per minute
the number of heart beats per minute; influences metabolism – the higher the heart rate, the more calories burned.
The number of heart beats per unit time, usually per minute. The heart rate is based on the number of contractions of the ventricles (the lower chambers of the heart). The heart rate may be too fast ( tachycardia ) or too slow ( bradycardia ). The pulse is bulge of an artery from the wave of blood coursing through the blood vessel as a result of the heart beat. The pulse is often taken at the wrist to estimate the heart rate. See the entire definition of Heart rate
Heart rate is the number of heart beats per unit time, usually expressed as beats per minute.
Number of time a minute the heart contracts
Heart rate is a term used to describe the frequency of the cardiac cycle. It is considered one of the four vital signs. Usually it is calculated as the number of contractions (heart beats) of the heart in one minute and expressed as "beats per minute" (bpm).
