Definitions for "Gremlins"
Originated as early as the Second World War, this is a spirit form accused of vexing airmen by playing sometimes malicious pranks on combat aircrews by causing engines or other key components of the aircraft to malfunction at inopportune moments. The stories of gremlins eventually found their way into large factories and has evolved into a general term for an alleged spirit causing havoc with machinery.

Gremlins is an American horror-comedy film directed by Joe Dante and released in 1984. It is about a young man who receives a strange creature named Gizmo as a pet, which then spawns other creatures who transform into small, destructive monsters. This story was continued with a sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, released in 1990.
