Gemeinde is the German word for commune or municipality. die Gemeinde (feminine noun, singular) also means, approximatelly, the parish or the community. This term in its theological usage, means more than just a community or parish. It has no English equivalent because it encompasses the meaning of parish assemby (as a group entity) but also the congregation as a [koinonia] (greek) or fellowship of believers.
