Definitions for "FDX"
Full-Duplex Ethernet. Ethernet (both 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps), without collisions. Since no collisions take place the bit budget of Ethernet is not applicable. Extended distances (when using Single-Mode fiber) can be achieved if Full-Duplex Ethernet is used.
Full-duplex Two-way, simultaneous transmission of data; a communication protocol in which the communications channel can send and receive data at the same time. Compare to half-duplex, where information can only be sent in one direction at a time.
