Fayette is the name of a number of places in the United States of America. Many are named for the Marquis de la Fayette (or Marquis de Lafayette), a French nobleman who fought along with General George Washington in the American Revolutionary War. Other places named for him are designated Fayetteville, La Fayette, or Lafayette.
