Depending upon the quality of the original tea leaf (such as Boh Estates' Cameronian), fannings in teabags may produce liquor that is as good as the original whole leaf tea.

In the orthodox teas, fannings will include broken orange pekoe fannings (BOPF) and golden orange pekoe fannings (GOPF) which describe the amount of tips in a grade.
