English theoretical physicist who applied relativity theory to quantum mechanics and predicted the existence of antimatter and the positron (1902-1984)
Paul Adrien Maurice British physicist (1902-1984). He worked out a version of quantum mechanics consistent with special relativity. His computations led him to predict the existence of the positron (positive electron). He shared the Nobel Prize for physics in 1933 with E.Schrödinger.

Dirac is a general-purpose video codec aimed at resolutions from QCIF to HDTV progressive or interlaced. It uses wavelets, motion compensation and arithmetic coding and aims to be competitive with other state of the art codecs.
Dirac is a prototype algorithm for the encoding and decoding of raw video. It was presented by the BBC in January 2004 as the basis of a new codec for the transmission of video over the Internet.
