Servant (German). In the 18th century, the Diener (or Dienerin, the feminine form) was one who held a special office or carried out a specified responsibility with the Moravian community. Among contemporary Moravians the term refers to one who serves the Lovefeast meal.
The word Diener is derived from German: "Leichendiener", which means ‘servant for the dead.’
