Cues inadvertently provided by the research in a study that affect the behavior of the participants by revealing the purposes of a study or the behavior expected from the participants.
Features of the experimental situation which can affect the subjects' behaviour, in particular when the subject has expectations about what he/she is required to do, or has worked out what the experimenter "wants" to happen.
A bias that results when participants display characteristics because they are aware that they are being observed.
