Definitions for "Decarbonization"
The action or process of depriving a substance of carbon.
Movement towards fuels which have a higher hydrogen to carbon ratio. Fuels such as gasoline have ratios of 12:1 or 8:1, whereas natural gas has a ratio of 4:1. The reduction of carbon in the energy supply is demonstrated in the Marchetti Curve.
Removal of carbon from a surface, such as steel. Also known as decarburization.
