An exceptionally dense and vertically developed cloud, occurring either isolated or as a line or wall of clouds with separated upper portions. These clouds appear as mountains or huge towers, at least a part of the upper portions of which are usually smooth, fibrous, or striated, and almost flattened.
A heavy dense cloud with considerable vertical extent in the form of massive towers.
a dark cloud of great vertical extent charged with electricity; associated with thunderstorms
a common sign of a thunderstorm and on rare occasions is associated with tornadoes
Cloud - A towering cloud that extends upward to levels of 6-7 km above the earth's surface. Strong updrafts and downdrafts are associated with this cloud generating heavy rain and often hail. Lightening and thunder are also characteristic of this cloud.
Rain clouds which can result in breif or less extended rainfall and thunderstorms
Clouds that appear as mountains or towers, and when tall enough form an anvil at the top. Under the base of cumulonimbus, which is very dark, there frequently exist virga, precipitation, and low ragged clouds. Its precipitation is often heavy and always of a showery nature. Thunder and lightning accompany cumulonimbus and with the right atmospheric conditions tornadoes can form.
A cloud type that is dense and vertically developed and is associated with rain (particularly of a convective nature).
These large, heavy and dense clouds have a flat dark surface and large tops shaped like mountains. They are generally associated with lightning, thunder, halo and sometimes tornadoes.
A giant thundercloud that towers to gray heights. Usually there are thunder storms, heavy rain, hail and lightening.
A cumulus cloud with great vertical development, often capped by an "anvil", sometimes called a "thunderhead". These clouds frequently produce thunderstorms and heavy rain.
An exceptionally dense and vertically developed cloud, often with a top in the shape of an anvil. The cloud is frequently accompanied by heavy showers, lighting, thunder and sometimes hail. It is also known as a thunderstorm. In Colorado... dangerous lightning, strong winds and hail are the most common types of weather associated with a thunderstorm.
The ultimate growth of a cumulus cloud into an anvil-shaped cloud with considerable vertical development, usually with fibrous ice crystal tops, and usually accompanied by lightning, thunder, hail, and strong winds.
A vertically developed cumulus cloud, often capped by an anvil-shaped cirriform cloud. Also called a thunderstorm cloud, it is frequently accompanied by heavy showers, lightning, thunder, and sometimes hail, tornadoes or strong, gusty winds.
(pronounced cume-you-lo-NIM-bus) a tall, dark, ominous-looking cloud that produces thunderstorms. Also called thunderstorm cloud.
Also know as thunderstorm clouds, these big, billowy masses form large, vertical columns that look like anvils. When you see a patch of Cumulonimbi forming, try and avoid trees and tall towers–lightning often accompanies these fluffy monsters.
exceptionally dense and vertically developed cloud type, occurring both as isolated clouds and as a line or wall of clouds, and generally accompanied by heavy rain, lightning, and thunder
A large, fairly dense cloud - frequently with an anvilshaped top. These clouds produce heavy rain showers, lightning, thunder and sometimes hail or tornadoes. The entire cloud can only be seen from a distance. See thunderstorm.
a very large thundercloud that brings heavy rain, hail, or snow
