Definitions for "Cthulhu"
Cthulhu (other spellings: Kutulu, Ktulu, Cthulu, Kthulhut, Thu Thu, TuluHarms, "Cthulhu", The Encyclopedia Cthulhiana, p. 64., and many others) is a fictional being created by horror author H.P. Lovecraft.It is sometimes claimed that Cthulhu corresponds to a monster or god in Sumerian mythology named "Kutulu" (or sometimes "Cuthalu"). In reality, "Kutulu" comes from Simon's Necronomicon, which is a fiction based loosely on Sumerian mythology, among other things.
There are two feature films entitled Cthulhu. The first, an Australian low budget horror film was made in 1996-1997 (2000 release) by Producer-Director Damian Heffernan and was mostly based on the two Lovecraft stories: "The Thing on the Doorstep" and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". The second Cthulhu 2006 thriller/horror movie, directed by Dan Gildark and co-written by Grant Cogswell and Dan Gildark.
