Civil Service Retirement System. This covers most employees of the U.S. Government hired prior to January 1, 1984. CSRS employees are not covered by, nor do they contribute to, Social Security. Voluntary retirement eligibility is age 55 with 30 years of service, or age 60 with 20 years of service, or age 62 with 5 years of service.
