Definitions for "Crossfoot"
A word that means to add column totals across to see if the sum will equal the grand total. In the table below each of the columns A through D was "footed" (added or summed) in order to get each column's total. Note that column D contains the total amount for each item. To crossfoot means to add the totals shown in Columns A + B + C to verify that it sums to the total of column D. In the following example, crossfooting means to add the following column totals: 20 + 15 + 16 to verify that it equals the total of column D, which is listed as 51.
