The Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation, a nationwide nonprofit corporation, formed in 1994, that took over the role of COPA (see above) in evaluating accrediting agencies and awarding recognition to those found worthy, and then relinquished it to CHEA a couple of years later.
