a specialist who provides professional forestry services to a variety of forest owners, whether they are private, industrial, commercial or public entities
a technically trained professional forester who provides competent forest management advice or assistance to landowners

Services may include expert advice, preparation of Forest Management Plans, appraisal of timber value, and planning and oversight of timber harvesting. A forester available for hire on a contract basis. Consulting foresters typically charge a daily fee plus expenses for certain types of services and provide other services on a fixed contract basis. Some charge a fixed percentage of the sale price of timber to provide services required in connection with a timber sale.
