Definitions for "Compression stockings"
Keywords:  venous, deterrent, ted, vein, thrombo
Either a sequential compression device (SCD) or a Plexi-pulse machine used to increase circulation and help prevent blood clots. The SCD consists of plastic leggings and the Plexi-Pulse consists of plastic foot wraps; both are attached to a small machine. This machine pumps air into air pockets in the wraps. After the wraps are applied, air is pumped in and then released. This pumping action helps improve circulation and prevents blood clots.
Sometimes called TED (thromboembolic deterrent) stockings, these are supportive elastic stockings that help blood to circulate in the lower legs. They help prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Sometimes called TED (thrombo-embolic deterrent) stockings, these are tight elastic stockings that help blood circulate in the lower legs. They help prevent blood clots in the veins.
