The Communist League was the first Marxist international organisation. It was originally founded as the League of the Just by German workers in Paris in 1836. This was initially a utopian socialist and Christian communist grouping following the ideas of Gracchus Babeuf.
The Communist League in Canada was founded as the "Revolutionary Workers League/Ligue Ouvrière Révolutionnaire" (RWL) in 1977 as the result of a merger of the League for Socialist Action (LSA), the Revolutionary Marxist Group (RMG) and the Groupe Marxiste Revolutionaire.
The Communist League of New Zealand is a New Zealand communist party.
