Coll is a fictional character from The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. In the books he occupies his time with farming, though prior to that he was a warrior. He was the original owner of the oracular pig Hen Wen, established the farm that became known as Caer Dallben when the enchanter Dallben took up residence there, and served as a guardian to Taran, the main protagonist of the stories.
Coll is a small island (about 21 km long and 5 km wide) in the Scottish Inner Hebrides, west of Mull. It has a population of less than 200. The island has a small village, Arinagour, from which ferries sail to Scarinish on Tiree and to Oban on the mainland. Caledonian Macbride route information (The normal journey from Oban on the mainland takes about two hours, but in stormy winter weather it can sometimes take much longer.)
