Citing is the act of adding an in-text reference that appears in the body of an assignment or report. When quoting an author or including the opinion of another author to support your own statements, the author's name and the appropriate source must be included, or cited, in your assignment. In an author-date referencing system, the author and date are briefly mentioned, e.g. Walker and Taylor (1998)
