choroi (Gr., "chorus"): a round or polygonal lighting fixture similar to a chandelier, consisting of a wide band of wood or metal, occasionally incorporating architectural elements such as arches, that support candleholders or oil lamps. Double-sided icons are sometimes used to decorate the perimeter of choroi (see cat 60).
