Definitions for "Chief rent"
A chief rent is money charged regularly on land, but it is not rent.
A payment made on freehold land to the original freeholder for an infinite period. Distinct from ground rent which has a finite period.
An annual charge on freehold property found in certain parts of Britain. The chief rent is payable by the freeholder in perpetuity although the amount cannot be increased.
