CHFA was created in 1969 by the state legislature to help alleviate the shortage of housing for low- and moderate-income families and persons in Connecticut, and when appropriate, to promote or maintain the economic development of this state through employer-assisted housing efforts.

CHFA is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts the programming of Radio-Canada's La Première Chaîne network in Edmonton, Alberta. The station, which broadcasts on 680 AM, was launched in 1949 by a local non-profit consortium to bring French radio service to Edmonton.
