The check character, if used, is the way the symbol ensures that its data has been correctly encoded and read. Since many codes are self-checking, the check character is not required by many symbologies, although it is an option in most of them.
A character included in a message for the purpose of performing a mathematical check to ensure the accuracy of the message.
A character used to check the integrity of the preceding bar code symbol. A check character is normally found at the end of the data encoded within the bar code.
Character added to guard against undetected errors.
A character included within a string of data whose value is used for the purpose of performing a mathematical check to ensure the accuracy of that data.
a character that is added to the end of a block of transmitted data and used to check the accuracy of the transmission
a character included within a symbol whose value is used for the purpose of performing a mathematical check to ensure the accuracy of the code
a mathematically calculated character which is added as the last position of a bar code when it is printed
A calculated character often included within a bar code symbol whose value is used for performing a mathematical check of the validity of decoded data. Sometimes called a check digit.
a character included within a symbol whose value is based, mathematically, on other characters within the symbol. It is used to perform a mathematical check to ensure the accuracy of the read. Same as checksum or check digit.
Characters added to a bar code to verify a correct read of the bar code. Check characters are usually the result of a mathematical calculation based upon the data in the bar code. Not all bar codes contain check characters.
a character calculated from the numerical value of the other characters in the code that is used to ensure that the code is correctly processed.
The check character is the total of a group of alphabetic and/or numeric characters used for error-checking purposes. See also Modulo check character.
